DONORS

Our animals are universal donors, characteristic which minimizes the risk of anaphylactic reactions to transfusion.

Before donations, they are always tested for the main infectious diseases by the laboratories of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute, decentralisation of the Italian Ministry of Health.
They are also subjected to a rigorous management and control program:

  • Bred in small groups and kept in large paddocks
  • Followed daily by qualified personnel
  • Visited weekly by vets, regardless of plasma donation
  • Regularly and carefully vaccinated and dewormed

They are all raised with the utmost respect for animal health and welfare to meet their physiological and ethological needs, guaranteeing them a high quality of life.
When they are no longer eligible for plasmapheresis or are simply too old, they continue their retirement in the paddocks of Plasmalife.
